With school starting in less than a month, one district is seeing an increase in its 4-year-old kindergarten program.
Superintendent of the Eau Claire School District, Ron Heilmann, says numbers are up slightly from projections.
He says there's enough of an increase to maybe add another full time teacher.
But Heilmann says they can't be sure that district enrollment is actually increasing with that age group, because the 4K program is voluntary.
Even with the addition of students, he says there's little concern over space in the schools.
Ron Heilmann says, "Because we've had some declines, we do have some space available at our district and again we'll look at how to best utilize our space that we have."
Heilmann says there could be an additional 15 to 30 four-year-olds taking part in the kindergarten program this coming year.
