Four people are hurt after a barn collapsed in Trempealeau County.
The sheriff's department says it happened around 3:30 p.m. at the Maliszewski dairy farm along Highway 93 in the township of Arcadia. Deputies say crews were building a new calf barn when strong winds caused some rafters to collapse. Six men were on the roof and fell more than 25 feet to the ground. The barn's owner says one man was trapped under a 1,500 pound rafter.
"When the wind came up, the rafters acted like sails. So when the wind hit the rafters, they went down like dominos. And it was kind of like slow motion. The guys saw it coming and that's kinda what saved their lives."
Four people were taken to the Arcadia hospital. Maliszewski says with such heavy rafters, it's lucky none of the men were killed.
