Officers say a man is out of surgery and expected to survive after he walked into the blade of a crop-dusting helicopter.
It happened Thursday at about 4:10 in the afternoon in a farm field off Sherpe Road between Viroqua and Westby.
Officers say 30-year-old Richard Miller of Edgewater, Florida walked into the helicopter's tail rotor.
It wasn't running at the time, but the blades were turning and hit him in the head.
The helicopter is owned by Forest Air Incorporated of Florida.
Vernon County Sheriff Gene Cary says a co-op in the area had hired Miller to spray pesticides.
