La Crosse Teen Sent To Prison On Stabbing Conviction

A 17-year-old has been sentenced to three-and-a-half-years in prison for stabbing another student in a La Crosse school stairwell last year.

Jeremy Rigelsky pleaded guilty in February for stabbing freshman John Buarapha seven times with a paring knife last October at Logan High School.

Buarapha had a punctured lung and internal bleeding.

La Crosse County Circuit Judge Dale Pasell sentenced the teen to three-and-a-half years in prison and four-and-a-half years on extended supervision.

Rigelsky also was placed on five years probation for felony burglary.

He told investigators he stole drawings and a notepad in October from the French Island home of Philip Schuth, who is in prison for shooting a neighbor and hiding his mothers body in a freezer.
