A 53-year-old man drowned while boating Saturday afternoon.
The Sawyer County Sheriff's Department says the man was boating with two others on Scott Lake when he decided to go swimming.
Chief Deputy Tim Zeigle says the man began struggling in the water.
Zeigle says the man's friends were unable to reach him because they were unfamiliar with the boat's operations.
Another boater was able to pull the man from the water.
An ambulance took the man to Hayward hospital where he was pronounced dead.
His name hasn't been released.
