It's one thing to be lectured about the dangers of drinking and driving, it's another to see the reality play out right before your eyes.
Today students at Memorial High School got that chance.
The school hosted its yearly mock car crash complete with paramedics, a hospital helicopter, and seriously injured teens.
With Memorial's prom scheduled for this weekend, organizers hope the event really drives home the reality of drunk driving.
"It lets the students kind of put themselves in that kind of position and lets them see what would really happen if they were involved in an accident. It kind of brings it back home for them," says Matt Vaughan a Memorial High School Senior.
Car crashes remain the number one cause of death among people age 15 to 20.
