The paper was first delivered on April 27, 1881 as the Daily Leader, later merging in 1912 with rival Eau Claire Daily Telegram.
In 1970, the days of a weekly morning and evening paper ended, and now there's afternoon dailies. Morning weekend papers started 20 years ago in 1986.
Through all the changes in technology, the current president of the company says loyalty, from employees and within the founding families, has kept the company strong.
"I feel we have very strong employee base that's helped us through the evolving and every changing aspects of the newspaper industry," says president Pieter Graaskamp, the fourth generation in his family to work for the company.
Graaskamp says he considers the 1997 addition of the online edition an asset, a way to reach people seeking the news through other formats.
