Some buildings in Eau Claire County could be torn down even though the jail expansion project has been put on hold.
Thursday, a committee approved demolishing five buildings the county bought for the project.
The lowest bids to demolish the buildings would be around $70,000.
Two other homes would be left vacant until January and others will be rented out or moved.
The committee also decided to wait until September 10th to make a decision on whether to pull its offer on two rental properties the county planned to take over through eminent domain.
The committee's plans still need to be approved by the county board.
