The Department of Justice has settled a lawsuit against Rush Well Drilling, LLC, of Black River Falls for violations of state laws regulating well drilling operations.

According to the complaint, filed at the request of the Department of Natural Resources, Rush improperly constructed two wells drilled in the Town of City Point, Jackson County, in March of 2007, including one on a private campground.

Rush subsequently corrected the violations, and has agreed to pay penalties, fees, and costs totaling $8,000 for the violations.

“We will continue to work with the DNR to make sure that Wisconsin’s environmental laws are followed,” said Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen.

Assistant Attorney General Shari Eggleson prosecuted the case. The settlement was approved by Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Robert Radcliffe.
