Red Cross Heading to New Orleans

Volunteers from western Wisconsin are on their way to lend their expertise for victims of Hurricane Gustav.

Lee Schwebs of Menomonie left Sunday morning and is already assisting with disaster relief operations.

Volunteers Earl Eckwright of Chippewa Falls and Jeff Ryba of Stanley will help in mass care.

Carolyn and Robert Hauser of Eau Claire will be helping with financial management.

“These people are individuals. When they have a loss, you just feel it. Each person counts, they're an individual,” says Carolyn.

Gustav has cost the Re Cross $20 million to date.

The Red Cross is now readying itself as a busy Atlantic Ocean brings tropical storms Hanna, Ike and Josephine. The Chippewa Valley Chapter continues to accept monetary donations.
