If you're feeling the need for speed, don't worry: The Blue Angels jet team will soon be landing at the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport for this weekend's air show.
"The Blue Angels are just really, the twin engines of the F-18's, they just have such a presence when they fly. You know they're here, you know they've arrived," describes the air show Co-Chair Jeff Staad.
Before the guests of honor grace the tarmac this week, there's a lot of work to be done.
And the Chippewa Valley Boy Scouts are up to the challenge, doing everything from building fences to laying down a guide strip for the blue angel's stunt show.
"We had 80 scouts and leaders come and if you can imagine them working in 2 and a half hours they were able to lay out 5,000 by 40 feet of white plastic," says Boy Scout Executive Director Gary Gilger.
Staads is also excited that his son will be among the one thousand scouts camping and helping out this weekend.
"They're also going to be earning part of their aviation merit badge," says Staads.
Organizers say this will help change the community's perception of the air show, which was tainted after the financial problems of previous air shows.
"We're working hard to make amends with some of the groups that were here that felt some of the finances not being there,” says Staads. “The boy scout name alone has helped us."
The Blue Angels aren’t the only group performing this weekend. The Golden Knights parachute team will also be on hand, as well as several other jets and stunt planes on display.
Organizers say judging from pre-sale tickets they'll have record attendance numbers.
The pre-sale ended last weekend, but there are still plenty of tickets are still available at the gate on Saturday and Sunday.
