Slain Soldier's Wife to Receive Benefits

The wife of a soldier from Merrill who was killed in Iraq will be getting a monthly stipend, medical benefits, and college tuition for her and her 3-kids. Heidi Dampier's 25-year-old husband, Private First Class Grant Dampier died May 15 when his Humvee hit a roadside bomb in Iraq. Workers at Lincoln County's veteran’s service will help provide $1250 per month for the family and the Army will give them medical benefits. The state will cover the kids' tuition at any UW school or technical college.
