State Creates Tax Incentive for Film Industry

Wisconsin has struggled to attract major films as some 30 other states offer some form of tax incentives. However, starting in 2008, Wisconsin will have some of the nation's most generous tax incentives for the film industry under a bill governor Jim Doyle signed yesterday.

Supporters hope the array of tax credits for companies that produce films, television shows and video games in Wisconsin will jump-start an industry that is virtually non-existent here. The incentives come after lawmakers eliminated the state's office that tried to recruit films last year.
