A La Crosse brewing company is dropping plans to buy a Molson Coors brewery in Tennessee after negotiations with the local union bogged down.
City Brewing Company announced less than a month ago that it intended to buy the Memphis plant which employs about 350 people and makes five million barrels a year.
Molson Coors plans to close the plant in September as part of broader cost cutting.
Union officials say City Brewing wanted deep concessions from employees.
City Brewing President Randy Smith says they put together a fair contract which is similar to the union's in La Crosse, which is also Teamsters.
Molson Coors officials say they will continue searching for a buyer.
