A state employee who is charged with steering a travel contract to a company whose CEO donated to Governor Jim Doyle’s re-election campaign is scheduled to go on trial today.
Prosecutors say Department of Administration Supervisor Georgia Thompson used her position to steer a lucrative deal to Glendale’s Adelman Travel Group.
Their CEO had donated thousands to Doyle’s campaign before and again after his firm landed the deal. The 56-year old Thompson had pleaded not guilty. She could serve 20-years in prison if convicted.
