Local Festival Adds New Events

Lawnmower races were a big attraction Sunday afternoon at Thorp Dairy Days. The people who run it are all volunteers, and the racers came from all over the state to compete.

Organizers say over the four days more than 10,000 people made their way to North Side Park for live music, dancing and an event they hadn't tried at Dairy Days before.

"We had blindfold races on Thursday night and it was a fun event, and next year, we're looking at some other new events," organizer Carl Zajack said.

Most of Dairy Days is run by private groups. Much of the money raised during the course of the weekend will go toward scholarships and improving parks in the area.
