Feingold Weighs In on Presidential Primaries

Senator Russ Feingold says he favors keeping New Hampshire’s primary at the front of the nominating calendar.

The Democrat made the comments at Saturday’s Democratic state convention there. Feingold says New Hampshire offers a valuable chance for voters to assess candidates in person, and that the presidential primary shouldn't be turned into a "big media war."

Other Democrats who are considering running for president also have endorsed the state's first-in-the-nation tradition, but the Democratic National Committee is considering scheduling 1 or 2 earlier caucuses in states that are more racially diverse.
