A teenager who investigators say was driving the car involved in a deadly crash was in court on Tuesday. A judge says there's enough probable cause to send the case to trial.

17-year-old David Jacobson faces four felony charges including homicide by negligent use of a vehicle and homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Court documents show Jacobson admitted to drinking and then driving 90 to 100 miles per hour when his car crashed on Hickory Road south of Eau Claire.

19-year-old Michael Hiatt died at the scene. 23-year-old Shawn Loescher, who was also in the car, was taken off life support a few weeks ago.

Jacobson is free on bond.

Considering the recent ruling last week of the individual who killed his girlfriend while going 40mph over the speed limit in Carson Park, I would expect for our fair and just district attorney to give David the same sentence of no time in jail, a year probation, and some community service. After all that's all that a life seems to be worth to Mr. White and the judges in Eau Claire.

It may be a start to change the legal driving age to 18 from 16. Just a thought.
