A scale made by a local company was featured NBC’s "The Office" Thursday night.

Rice Lake Weighing Systems made the scale that all the actors were standing on in the episode.

Mark Johnson says they got the call requesting the scale back in July.

Johnson says the company had to specially make the scale to accommodate the TV show's needs.

He says they wanted to be able to weigh the entire cast and have a display to show the weight.

Johnson says Rice Lake Weighing Systems is excited to have their work shown on TV... and hopes to get some new business from it.

Interesting. I didn't think it would be necessary to have a real scale, just something that can pass as a scale for the cameras. After all, the weight reported by the scale was not really the actual weight of the cast; it was whatever numbers would work best for the script.
