3 GOP senators criticize Baldwin's votes on Iran

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Three Republican senators say Tammy Baldwin isn't qualified to be Wisconsin's next senator because the Democratic congresswoman doesn't seem to understand how dangerous a nuclear-armed Iran would be.

Baldwin is locked in a tight Senate race with Republican Tommy Thompson. At a Milwaukee news conference Thursday with Thompson, the senators noted that Baldwin had voted against Iranian sanctions four times.

Sens. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, John McCain of Arizona and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina say the votes call into question her judgment and foreign-policy understanding.

A message left with the Baldwin campaign was not immediately returned.

A Marquette University Law School poll this week showed the race tied, with Thompson up 46 percent to 45 percent. The gap was within the poll's margin of error.
