MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Three Republican state lawmakers who have said they will not be seeking re-election have yet to file the required paperwork officially declaring they will not be candidates.
The deadline to file the paperwork with the Government Accountability Board is Friday at 5 p.m.
As of midday Thursday Republican Sen. Dale Schultz and Republican state Reps. Chad Weininger and Don Pridemore have yet to file the required form.
If they miss the Friday deadline, and still retire, anyone running for office for their seats would have three extra days to collect the required signatures to get on the ballot. The deadline to turn in those nominating papers is Monday, June 2.
All three Republicans are expected to retire even though they have yet to file the paperwork.
