A local school went into lock down as a precaution as officers arrested a man on a warrant.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald says the man was meeting with the New Auburn School District Superintendent and Principal about a child custody issue. Officers had already known about the meeting and arrested the man as he left the school building in New Auburn Thursday morning. The man was jailed but he won't face any local charges.

The reason this became a "story" was because the school was locked down. that is the story - not the issue with the particular family. That's why the story is so bare-bones. They are simply reporting that the school was locked down, which the public has a right to know.

Christina - Wow, you certainly know a lot more about this story than what is published.

This is not a story. It doesn't even have on complete paragraph let alone an outline for a story. It's stupid, besides the fact that there are not any stories about anyone esle's custody issues. When did we decide that butting into other people's business, such as this, was ok. So the parents had a rough divorce/seperation, maybe the guy just wanted to see his child. Is that really so much to ask? Why does the mother get full custody and the father not get to see THEIR child? This story should be taken off the site and an apology sent out to the family for putting it on the news.

I dont think this is a big enough problem to be talked about on the news. This is embarrassing for the student(s) and their family even more then todays happenings did. I am a student at New Auburn High School, and I think this is ridiculus for this to be talked about on here. Its not a public ordeal, he caused no problem. I'm not putting words in everyones mouth at New Auburn, this is just my feelings on the subject. I just think this shouldn't be over dramatized then what it already was today. This was just done to protect the students, and everyone else in this building. Most students didn't even know what was going on, and now they're finding out a completely un-true story with all the rumors going around.
