Eau Claire police say there were more arrests at the UW Eau Claire homecoming celebration this weekend compared to last year.

This year Eau Claire police arrested 25 people, and wrote 185 citations. Sergeant Mike Graf says most of the citations were related to underage drinking and the majority of the arrests were for obstructing an officer or disorderly conduct. Twenty of the 185 citations were for public urination.

The overall numbers are up from 2007, when there were 18 arrests and 148 citations.

They act just like they see other adults act!

Well said Jesse. Philo, you are entitled to your opinion, but so am I. My opinion is that you are ignorant. This is not an attack or insult, I am simply saying it as an opinion.

I agree with Anon and Mike, but let us focus on the horrid parenting that is mostly to blame. These folks were never taught respect and decency. I would bet none of them know to take their hat off in a building or open a door for a women, wait for the elderly, etc. Philo, do you have any proof to back up anything you say or is this more baseless claims from the far left fringe? P.S. Democrat talking here....

Philo, "Any person who, in a public or private place, engages in violent, abusive, indecent, profane, boisterous, unreasonable loud, or otherwise disorderly conduct under circumstances, in which such conduct tends ends to cause or provoke a disturbance...". That does not seem to vague to me. And, if there really is a case where an officer does overstep his/her bounds and they attempt a "free pass" on someone, there always is a judge that this can be challenged before. However, my guess is that most people who were charged with this, upon sobering up, will decide what they did was pretty stupid and pay the fine.

Funny, my though was this; Why do the police have to make crimes out of free behavior? Something about 'obstructing an officer' and 'disorderly conduct' has never really sat right with me. How vague and arbitrary are these laws that basically gives a free pass to any cop to arrest any person for any random reason. (I don't really expect anyone from around here to understand this, but I had to get it off my chest...)

It's a shame that young people have to act the way they do. There is really no excuse for that type of behavior.
