The Secretary of State's office has already registered more Minnesotans to vote than ever before. And officials are expecting hundreds of thousands of more registrations before Election Day is over.

The Secretary of State's office says 90 percent of eligible adults in Minnesota, or 3.15 million people, are now registered. It says that percentage is higher than any other state.

Beth Fraser, the office's director of governmental affairs, says the previous record was set in 2004 with 3.13 million registered voters. Just under 600,000 Minnesotans registered at the polls on Election Day in 2004.

The office will accept registration forms until October 14. After that, voters can register at the polls on Election Day.
