A huge development in the area will move forward, but with a few changes.
The Chippewa Falls City Council voted to move forward with the Chippewa Crossing Development Tuesday night; but they made some adjustments to the developer's agreement.
It's been years in the making and city leaders hope it will bring a big tax-base boost with it.
The project will start on 70 acres, but ultimately, the city planner says it hopes to turn into a 300 acre development near Highway 29 and Seymour-Cray.
The first phase includes drawing in big box stores, other retail businesses and restaurants.
The developer will pay $1.4 million dollars in two phases, and the city will put in the roads and other infrastructure, plus buy a few acres from the state, which is a change from the first plan. The city plans to bid out that work in February and start construction in the spring.
