The year in prison was for violating her probation. She is still facing punishment for what she did to her child. Hopefully she WILL get a long sentence for what she did to her child. The headline was very misleading.

This headline is obviously misleading judging from the comments. The year sentence was for violating probation. I'm guessing she hasn't been convicted yet in the case of throwing the baby. I would think that if she is found guilty in that case she would get a heck of a lot more than one year in jail.

What is wrong with people these days? You throw a 4 month old into a chair? She should get a lot more then 1 year in prison - hope they tie her tubes so she can't have anymore children and they take this little one away from her. She gets her life back in 1 year and this little one doesn't even have a life!

That is a pretty lame sentence for tossing a baby hard enough to have it go unconscious and stop breathing. It appears that she didn't even try to resusitate the child either and a police officer had to do it. I wonder how long it was before the family called. what a shame. I certainly hope she is not getting the child back at ANY point.

This piece of garbage did not even get any kind of sentence. She is responsible for ruining a human life, one she gave birth to at that. If it were up to me, I would make this waste of oxygen spend the rest of it's life behind bars while being forced to watch videos of the heartbreaking lifestyle it's offspring will now have to lead because of her selfish and self centered actions. One year? Get real.. if you are ready to perform the acts that make a baby you sure as hell be ready to face the responsibilities from it!!

What is wrong with people! To have a child is a blessing- I have 2 boys and yes I have those 'I can't handle this!' moments- but you know what- at that moment you have to think of how blessed you are to have your child/children- if you are too upset to do that- STEP AWAY FROM THE CHILD/ CHILDREN- take your anger out on anything but those children- you will never get that moment back. Make the right decision- go smoke a cigarette, break a pencil, go outside and scream! ANYTHING but harm a child. If you consistantly lose control- remember, there are thousands of couples out there that are waiting to adopt a child and can provide a wonderful home- I think a lot of people forget about that option... I am glad this girl was given such a punishment- there should be more parents given such punishments for child abuse. Even if it is unintentional- abuse is abuse.

A year in prison? What the heck is wrong with this judge? She should get 20 years. This woman is NOT a mother, she is an evil waste of skin. A helpless baby gets damaged for life because this freak abused this child. I hope she doesn't see the light of day for a long time.

what kind of woman can throw their tiny little baby? a drug addict of a mother like Tanya Kasper can. i can only hope she spends the rest of her sorry life behind bars.

How can someone do that to their own child? Hopefully, she will at least get life in prison for doing this.

All she gets is one lousy year for permanently damaging her daughter's mental and physical capabilities?? That is pathetic. She deserves a lot more time in prison for such reckless behavior. I have no sympathy for someone who hurts children.

So...she basically killed her daughter and the headline is she got a year in prison for a different charge...I seriously hope that she is going to get a real sentance for her daughter...she should also be sterilized so no more children suffer at the hand of a "mom" who takes it out on her child. Someone should throw her into a wall and maybe she can suffer disabilities for the rest of her life!
