Federal investigators are warning you about a new scam that is now showing up in Wisconsin.
The Federal Trade Commission says people are getting an automated phone call saying their debit card has been deactivated because of questionable charges. Then the recording asks them to enter their card number, tricking people into giving that information away.
Investigators say the scam is especially difficult, because the caller ID shows a real company's phone number.
They remind you to never give out financial information and to watch your bills for fraud.
The FTC says as many as nine million Americans have their identity stolen every year. There were more than 2,400 victims in Wisconsin last year.
