Prosecutors say a pediatrician and medical college professor faces charges of receiving child pornography because of images found on his home computer.
The criminal complaint filed against Kurt Hecox in US District Court in Milwaukee says 800 images of child pornography were found on his computer hard drives, plus evidence that more than 100 other images were received and deleted.
The charges carry from five to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
Hecox treated patients with epilepsy at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin and is a professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Hecox stopped seeing patients at Children's Hospital in May after a reporter called the hospital to inquire about a search warrant that had been served at Hecox's Brookfield apartment.
At the Medical College, he serves as a professor of neurology in the department of pediatric neurology. College officials say they're fully cooperating with authorities in the case.
A phone number for Hecox in Brookfield was out of order when The Associated Press attempted to call him for comment this evening.
