Buying a New Car
Those of you who are in the market to buy a new car might have some really good timing. Car dealerships are trying to clear out their 2006 year models, making room for the new 2007's. And that can mean big savings. Those incentives might not be a good idea for everyone though.

For car dealers, July, August, and September are the prime months to clear out older models. For customers, it means saving some cash, a few thousand in some cases.
>
"There is a whole gamut of rebates that are available. The consumer just has to know what they qualify for and what's made available to them,” said Tony Meyer, general sales manager of Markquart Chevrolet.
>
Zero percent interest, zero down, and rebates are some of the common incentives car dealers are offering. But consumers could miss out on saving even more money if they don't ask the right questions.
>
"There's a rebate on the vehicle itself. Then there are additional rebates for down payment assistance where they give you extra cash to help with the down payments and things of that nature.”
>
Besides saving money, another thing to ask yourself is, “Can I afford the monthly payments?”
>
Mark Willer, chief operating officer at RCU says consumers should sit down with a loan officer to determine what suits them. He also says to watch out for lenders who are offering six-year-loans, because they're not for everyone.
>
"You typically want to tie the length of the loan to how long you plan on keeping the vehicle, especially if it's going to be short-term. If you only plan on keeping the vehicle for three or four years, don't let your payments go out five years or six years,” said Mark Willer.

After you get all the finances figured out, start shopping because Markquart Chevrolet’s general sales manager Tony Meyer says selection can be limited, especially if you want a specific color or certain options. Dealers typically won't be able to special order 2006's.
