Delinquent Taxes

A state revenue official says the state is 12 million dollars richer thanks to a Web site that lists the names of tax scofflaws.

The Web site launched six months ago, and officials estimated it would bring in 1.5 million dollars.

But Department of Revenue spokeswoman Meredith Helgerson says the total is eight times more than that and counting.

Helgerson says people can have their names removed from the site in one of three ways -- by paying the delinquent taxes ... reaching a compromise with the state ... or filing for bankruptcy.
