Man Reported Angry At Doctor; Drove Van Into A La Crosse Clinic

A criminal complaint ways the man who crashed his minivan into a La Crosse medical clinic and then went on a damage rampage inside wanted to find a doctor he blames for refusing to run an HIV test on him in 1988.

Eight years later, a test found he had AIDS, and he has claimed his prognosis would have been more positive if the disease had been diagnosed earlier.

Geoffrey Fitzgerald is charged in La Crosse County Circuit Court with second-degree recklessly endangering safety, criminal damage to property and failure to comply with an officer's attempt to take him into custody.

Prosecutors say the 50-year-old Fitzgerald, from Dubuque, Iowa, did more than $300,000 damage to the Franciscan Skemp Clinic in the incident early Friday.
