i have suffered from fibromyalgia for years and all the legal medicine i have to take for it is way more dangerous then just smoking MJ. i would actually rather be in extreme pain then take and kind of pill. lately so many people have be dying from pain meds and know one has ever died directly from smoking mj. i have seen peoples lives change for the worst when they get addicted to meds such as Oxycontin or vicodin and i know its wrong but ive been smoking mj for 10years and i have never had any problems with daily tasks. it would just help so many people and right now even better boost the economy greatly oh and lower crime. this is what our country needs in times like this

I have suffered from chronic asthma since i was 5 years old.I'm for medical mj for the fact of that IT WORKS and dont take my word for it theres plenty of scientific PROOF.Year after year i've tried different medicines with little to no relief.Today im currently on my emergency inhaler cause it's all i have that works EXCEPT since i've been on it so long the effects of my inhaler are diminishing not to mention albuterol is VERY BAD for my heart as well.Where is someone in my situation supposed to turn too.As of december 2008 ALL albuterol inhalers are being switched to new hfa inhalers because the aerosol is better for the environment but majority of asthmatics i've spoke with agree with the fact of HFA inhalers DON'T WORK.So what am I to do now.Do i have to prepare my family my wife and little girl with the REAL possibility of death in the next couple years.I KNOW what works its time to give US what we need! REALIZE AND LEGALIZE

people can smoke cigs, drink, own assault weapons, but cant sit back and relax with marijuana or use it for helping pain and other complications from illnesses. wisconsin is full of mj users.

I agree with you sal, if anyone is interested in finding out more about this issue and others I suggest contacting your local NORML chapter and maybe even get involved, when used correctly this medicine can benefit a great many people

Alright Michigan! This is so right! As a patient with fibromyalgia and my husband having MS I sure hope Wisconsin follows Michigan's footsteps. All the prescription meds that we have tried cost sooo much money....more money than the meds do any good. Marijuana, as a herb grown by the earth should be used by people living on this earth. It takes care of the pain and the other symptoms of MS and fibromyalgia. If you have no idea what it feels like to have an illness that causes you to have so much pain you're crazy to say it's wrong to be medicinal. All the states are part of the United States and we're all US citizens but depending on where you live depends on if you can get medicinal marijuana...that's messed up.

...I must correct something I said in my last post. Kudos and thanks to WEAU and all the other media outlets who have also picked up this story. Could I and so many others have actual tangible reason for hope? I seems that lately we are becoming a kinder, more understanding America. This is good news. We like good news. Keep the good news coming! Peace...

It's about time people become educated about what marijuana really is, it's a thought provoking, helpful herb that can COMPLETELY prevent glaucoma, it has been proven to not kill brain cells, we need to stop lying to our kids and telling them that smoking it will cause them to become 40 year old jobless losers living with their parents, it's a natural plant that grows from the earth, it was put on earth by god for man to use medicinally and recreationally, and to the guy that posted about approved medicine, try a replacement for the disgustingly addictive pain medicines that are put out by the pharmaceutical companies for one, Ban alchohol, ban tobacco, legalize something that won't kill people and cause teenagers to get into accidents.

To mathew and anonymous. I feel bad for your knowledge on this subject. Do a little research before you make such foolish remarks. Childeren in states that have medical marijuana actually use marijuana less than states that don't have med laws. Do your own research for a change, don't listen to government/prohibition propaganda. Read the studies out there. There are plenty of them out there. Marijuana has never killed anyone, yet it's treated like a demon. The whole reason it's illegal in the first place is because of lies. Quit being the sheep at the steeple. It's time to legalize..

Thank you, WEAU, for finally publishing something that all other media outlets have been too scared to; "The Wisconsin Nurses Association and the Wisconsin Public Health Association favor legalizing medical marijuana." These two are among MANY others that support the use of cannabis as a medicine. If you do your research (and not just on .gov sites), you will find that most respected medical organizations have supported medical marijuana, some for a very long time. 'Anonymous needs to open their scared little eyes and realize that pot won't destroy the earth, but rather save it from us; and Matthew, you may have a hard time believing that cannabis is a better medicine, but ask yourself this; what would you rather have your kid steal from your medicine cabinet, something non-toxic and natural, or that big bottle of oxycontin? Personally, I'd rather find my kid stoned than dead. Just me, though...

To Matthew in Chippewa Falls. Do you know of a medicine for cancer patients who cant eat and dont have an appetite? I do. It is called Marijuana. It is a very successful medicine in California. Especially for that. And guess what, there isn't any more of a problem with it there now, than there was before!

If only the seriously ill and terminally ill were to use the drug it would have been passed years ago, however, It will get abused and passed onto our children as it is now but it will be MORE legal. With all of the medicines I have a hard time believeing marijuana can do something approved medicine can't.

Congratulations Michigan. We are proud of you for the legislation and you the voters for choosing to legalize Medical Marijuana. It is time for Wisconsin to follow, it's time to let you representatives know this. Enough of the lies. Realize and Legalize.
