Braving Saturday’s rainy and cold weather, hundreds of runners and walkers took to the trails of Owen Park Saturday morning for the first ever Justice Run/Walk.
The run was put on by the local "Just Us For Justice" organization. The group hopes Saturday’s event will raise awareness about social injustices throughout the world, and how ordinary people in the Chippewa Valley can help to eliminate them.
The race co-director Jessie Podolak said, "I think people are touched when they hear about especially children in foreign countries, and even sometimes in our own backyard who are trafficked for slavery and forced childhood prostitution, really ugly stuff."
The run raised $5,000 dollars for the international justice mission.
"Just Us For Justice" hopes this will be the first of many runs for the organization.
