A band director's resignation letter says he's leaving to find other musical studies and performance opportunities.
Roberta Rasmus says the Chippewa Falls school board accepted 26-year-old Andrei Strizek's resignation letter Thursday night.
Strizek was the band director at Chippewa Falls High School. He was hired full time in 2006.
Roger Thompson, the co-president of the Chippewa Falls Federation of Teachers says Strizek was put on paid administrative leave more than a week ago. Strizek succeeded former director Doug Greenhalgh who was one of five people killed in the 2005 school bus crash.
Rasmus did not tell us why Strizek resigned. Last year, Strizek was found guilty of providing liquor to people who were not of drinking age, but it is unclear what prompted this leave of absence and resignation.
