Firefighters have found a woman's body inside a home that was destroyed by fire.
The fire was reported at about 7 a.m. Sunday in the Village of Pewaukee. City of Pewaukee Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Bierce says the village police officers who first arrived at the scene encountered heavy smoke and fire.
Bierce says firefighters were able to enter the home soon after, and that's when they discovered the body.
It took about 90 minutes to control the fire, but the home is a total loss.
The village police department and the state fire marshal are investigating the fire and the woman's death.
The city of Pewaukee provides fire service to the village.
