Vernon County Gets Gov't Funding To Help Protect People Living Below Dams

More than $85,000 in government funding will go toward protecting people living below dams that are considered "high-hazard."
The Federal Emergency Management Agency gave the money to the Vernon County Land and Conservation Department. It will go toward advance warning systems for heavy rain and high water levels, and evacuation route signs at 13 flood control dams in the county.
FEMA says it's paying 75% of the project costs. Vernon County and the state will pay for the rest.
