A local sheriff's office now has $35,000 in state grants to help them enforce speeding and drunk driving.
The money goes toward Eau Claire County Deputies' overtime, and to buy new equipment. The Sheriff's Department says it plans to buy 2 in-car digital video camera systems with some of the money.
The Department of Transportation says in 2007, about 250 people died in speed-related crashes in Wisconsin. The DOT says nearly 340 died that same year in crashes that were alcohol related.
