If you live in the city of Chippewa Falls, and a snow plow hits your mailbox, you could get a check.

The city council is considering a resolution clearing the way for damages if a city plow hits your mailbox.

Under the resolution, you would get up to $50 to fix or replace it, but only if the plow actually hits the mailbox, which you would have to prove.

If rolling snow takes out your box, you'd be out of luck.

The city says there are a number of complaints every year because of damaged mailboxes.

The council is scheduled to vote on the measure Tuesday night.
