An event is urging smokers to try to quit for at least a day.
Thursday is the 32nd Annual Great American Smokeout. 1 in 5 U.S. adults are smokers. The American Cancer Society calls lung cancer Wisconsin’s number 1 cancer killer among men and women.
Data shows smoking cigarettes results in more than 440,000 premature deaths every year. Experts say using proven interventions, like help from a doctor, or using FDA approved drugs, can significantly increase the chance of quitting for good.
