I'm certain, since they quoted him in several parts of the story, that the info came from the fire chief himself. If you have an issue with the information and want to criticize the information, why don't you give the fire chief a call instead of blaming everything on the news itself.
WOW... funny how the news can't get the facts straight... first of all, the fire started at 1:30, not 2:30 and the power was shut off for at least an hour or more in town, not a half hour. Alligator food? where did that come from? I've never heard that before!
