UNDATED (AP) -- Here's a motto for deer hunters: When the times get tough, the tough get hunting.
Wisconsin's nine-day gun deer season opens tomorrow, and a deer expert with the Department of Natural Resources says it offers a chance to bag a lot of food at a reasonable price, which might come in handy in these tough economic times.
The DNR's Keith Warnke says areas that are overpopulated with deer offer the most venison, and that includes quite a bit of Wisconsin.
For someone hunting in one of those areas, a $24 resident deer license could provide an antlerless deer, a buck and, for another $2, another antlerless deer.
