A newly released toxicology report shows the Marshfield High School teacher killed by a freight train was highly intoxicated when his minivan was crushed on railroad tracks in Auburndale.

The Wood County Coroner's Office released the report which shows Troy Schmitt had a blood alcohol level of .27 percent. That's more than three times the legal limit of intoxication.

The coroner had not ruled whether Schmitt's death Oct. 17 was accidental or suicide. An autopsy shows the 37-year-old teacher was alive when he was struck.

The coroner says Schmitt had drinks at a fish fry with friends the night he was struck and killed.
