A group of UW-Stout students hope to make a difference in children's lives by collecting teddy bears today.
A troop of girl scouts also stopped by the collection to help decorate the bears with necklaces and inspirational phrases.
The Stout students, who are enrolled in a class called "abuse in the family" collected the bears that will be going to help kids who are in abusive homes.
Connie Cristopherson a UW-Stout Senior helping out at the collection said, "Then we'll give most of the bears to the police station to put in the police squad cars trunks so when they're called out for domestic violence calls, they'll give them to the kids just to give them hope and happiness."
The students collected several dozens of teddy bears, as part of their service learning project.
They say they're happy to know their work will put a smile on a child's face.
