Project Lifesaver is designed to help locate people who may wander off because of Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism, Down syndrome, or other conditions.
Two officers from Pierce County and two from St. Croix County have been trained in the program.
This is how it works: the memory impaired person wears a personalized radio transmitter the size of a wristwatch.
The radio provides a constant signal that helps deputies locate the person if they become lost.
The initial fee for the equipment is $300 and there is a $10 monthly fee to maintain it.
If you are interested in purchasing the equipment for your loved one call the pierce county or St. Croix county Sheriff's Department.
