The 911 call from a UW-Madison student's cell phone the day she died included sounds of a woman's screams and a struggle.

Search warrants obtained by the Wisconsin State Journal include police statements that describe the call by Brittany Zimmerman on April 2, shortly before her fiance found her dead at their apartment.

Madison police and Dane County officials have refused to disclose the content of the call, which was mishandled by the 911 center. Authorities have said a dispatcher apparently failed to hear sounds on the other end and did not send police to the apartment.

The warrants have been sealed and resealed by judges at the request of police and Dane County prosecutors, but the latest seal on all of them expired last week.

You know what they say about having to walk a mile in someone else's shoes? I'm sure that none of you ahve any idea of the volume of calls that dispatchers get in a shift. This person has likely handled thousands if not tens of thousands of calls with no problems. I also feel bad for her and her family, but mistakes do happen to everyone.

The dispatcher is being reprimanded. That is a joke. If I were the parents of Brittany I would be demanding more than a reprimand.

The more that comes out in this case, the more it sounds like the dispatcher may be the one with blood on his/her hands. I've called dispatch too many times and been met with a distinct attitude of "Why are you bothering me with this trivial call?" I hope this Madison dispatcher didn't err in this way, but it's sounding like he/she was too blase' at the wrong time.
