You know what they say about having to walk a mile in someone else's shoes? I'm sure that none of you ahve any idea of the volume of calls that dispatchers get in a shift. This person has likely handled thousands if not tens of thousands of calls with no problems. I also feel bad for her and her family, but mistakes do happen to everyone.
The dispatcher is being reprimanded. That is a joke. If I were the parents of Brittany I would be demanding more than a reprimand.
The more that comes out in this case, the more it sounds like the dispatcher may be the one with blood on his/her hands. I've called dispatch too many times and been met with a distinct attitude of "Why are you bothering me with this trivial call?" I hope this Madison dispatcher didn't err in this way, but it's sounding like he/she was too blase' at the wrong time.
