The New Year traditionally means making resolutions and, for many, it's losing weight. If you are among them, heed this warning by the Food and Drug Administration Tuesday.

The agency has identified 28 weight loss products that contain potentially harmful, even deadly, ingredients. Many of these pills are advertised as "natural" fat burners and sell under names such as "Imelda Perfect Slim", "Shape-Pro-Slim", "Slim-Perfect" and even "Venom Hyper-Drive 3.0."

The FDA says these products, and others, contain prescription drugs in dosages well above maximum daily limits. These are ingredients not listed on the labels.

Other ingredients are powerful appetite suppressors and a suspected carcinogen. The FDA is even considering criminal charges against some companies that have not complied with recommended recalls.
