An 18 year old who prosecutors say helped himself to a big Christmas present is now in big trouble.
Andrew Selvig of Taylors Falls, MN, is charged with taking a lock box full of $230,000 in cash from his grandparent's Polk County basement.
Selvig's grandpa says Andrew and his friend, Samuel Durkot, came to their home in Amery to celebrate the holidays. A couple days later he found out Andrew gave his mom $500 in cash for Christmas and his dad a car. Selvig's grandfather checked on his lock box and found out it was missing.
Officers later found the box in a truck Andrew Selvig bought with the stolen money. Selvig is in jail in Minnesota. A warrant has been issued for Durkot's arrest.
Selvig's grandparents own a restaurant. They say every time they received a hundred dollar bill they put it in the lock box and have collected them for many years.
