Firefighters had to shut down a street Friday night during a house fire.
The fire, on Eau Claire's northside at 422 Putnam Street, started about three Friday afternoon. Police had to block off Putnam Street so the firefighters could fight the flames in the duplex.

They say the fire started on the first floor of the 100-year-old home.
Firefighters tell us seven people live inside, but no one was inside when the fire broke out. Those seven people have all found a place to stay in the meantime. Firefighters say someone passing by called it in, but they're still trying to figure out what started it. They had it under control at about four p.m.

Damage to the home is estimated at $95,000.
