We've seen it on our website comments and City Council members say they've been hearing it; people have been frustrated with the City of Eau Claire’s snowplowing.
But now people will have a chance to discuss it at a City Council meeting Monday night.
City Council member Dave Duax says this discussion is a way to show the public what goes on behind the decision making and lets them give their input.
Dave Duax says, "This has been an unusual winter. A lot of snow, but also in small increments, so it's under 3 inches often times and we have this policy of not plowing the side streets if it's not over 3 inches."
This has a lot of people frustrated with snow covered and slick roads.
Dave Duax says, "We need to talk about it and see what we can do. People do pay taxes and they are entitled to know."
Director of Public Works Brian Amundson says he'll be presenting the city's policies and procedures on removing snow, and says it's always a good thing to openly discuss it.
Brian Amundson says, "I think there's value in us trying to outline what is involved. It's not perhaps this easy and simple as it may look on the surface."
With tighter budgets the Public Works Department has had to take a hard look at every single snow fall this winter.
Brian Amundson "We take very seriously when we make a decision to undertake certain snow and ice control operations. That's going to spend not just hundreds of dollars, but tens of thousands of dollars. That's not the only basis we have for making those decisions, but clearly it's part of it."
Duax says he knows there's two sides of the issue and says City Council is willing to listen.
Dave Duax "Of course we have to cut expenses, but maybe this is not an area where we should do it and that's the question."
If anyone is interested in going to that meeting, it's Monday night at 7:00 at Eau Claire City Hall.
